Road2Cyber Tech & Cyber Job Fair · Brussels

I really enjoyed spending the day at the Road2Cyber Tech & Cyber Job Fair in Brussels on 30 October 2025. It's an initiative powered by the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) and the Women4Cyber Foundation, organised together with Solvay Lifelong Learning · Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management, and the format made it easy to actually talk to people instead of just collecting flyers.

What the day was about

The fair brings Europe's tech and cybersecurity employers into one room with students, graduates, and working professionals. Companies get to:

• Showcase their work and the kinds of roles they're hiring for
• Meet cybersecurity students, graduates, and people already in the field
• Discuss where the workforce is heading and what digital skills matter next
• Walk away with the event's CV book of attending candidates

For someone on the candidate side, it doubles as a low-pressure way to map the European cyber landscape, who's hiring, what stacks they live in, and which problems they care most about.

The session that stood out

I'm glad I sat in on Bolivar Pereira's ISC2 session on certifications and early-career steps. It was the kind of talk that takes the abstract "what should I study next?" question and turns it into a clearer set of choices, which certs map to which roles, what employers actually look at, and where to put energy when you're still building experience.

What I took home

• A much better mental map of the European cyber-talent ecosystem.
• Practical guidance on how certifications fit alongside hands-on work, not in place of it.
• A reminder that the early-career path in this field is built one conversation at a time, and events like this exist exactly to make those conversations possible.

A big thank-you to ECSO, Road2Cyber, Women4Cyber, and Solvay Brussels School for putting together such a well-run event. Feeling inspired to keep learning, keep building, and to see where the next steps lead.
